White Paper: Working the Line
Next-Generation Telecoms Networks for Metro Rail Systems

These days, the connected telecoms systems that metro rail systems rely on are varied and numerous. There’s access control, ticketing, information kiosks and display screens. There’s video surveillance to monitor footfall, and to support facial recognition, weapons detection, and crowd control.
Then there are general alarm and warning systems, and wifi and mobile connectivity in stations and on trains. And of course, signaling and control systems, telemetry systems, dispatch systems based on TETRA / Push-To-Talk technology and not least, Communications Base Train Control (CBTC), and supervision and
monitoring systems.
